I am looking at fitting a stainless steel
water tank behind the back seats (60 litres) inside the cabin.
A friend had the bladder style on the floor and it drove his better half mad with the sloshing sound of the water rushing from side to side.
I am told the metal tanks have baffles
Has any one had any problems or advice ?

Why not put it underneath? You will still get some noise depending on how full it is.

I would change my position from across the seats to using the lay-back
seat. That way the car would not
rock as much and you should not drive the missus mad with luck.
Give it a go and lets us know if it works. Cheers Tony

Gidday
I have a 60L baffled tank sitting where the back
seat once was. Never heard much sloshing.
A mate of
mine has one of those bags you talk about, but the noise has never been an issue.
Regards
Kim

LOL,
I put them there when we did the
Simpson Desert in 2004, as you can see I still haven't had to use them.
Cheers Dave...

As others have said - the sloshing sound is a result of air in the tank - whether its bladder type or tank type - ( my water bed sloshes also until i get all the air out then is silent)
Baffles in a tank will slow the water down in its movement - but will still give sloshing sound ....
also be aware Stainless steel is a brittle steel - why do i mention it ? when the tank flexes with the weight of water movement - it will eventually crack the steel especially near bends where the tank is already stressed - i have seen MANY tanks about 1 yr old cracked all over and there only 20-50 litre tanks
Just be mindful of this as nobody will tell you this when they happily take your $$ from you

You are right it will work harden. But if fabricated from the correct grade and thickness all should be fine.
I have a small stainless steel
water tank and a stainless steel 70 litre diesel tank under my camper trailer and have been on some ruff stuff and so far no probs.
Cheers Scoot . :-)

Had a 50 ltr plastic baffleless tank behind back
seat on the 80 series and yes it sloshed. Yes you could hear it when radio/cd was off. Yes it was sometimes annoying. But we lived with it for many years. I imagine a ss one would be worse.
