Hi all.
Can some one tell what the difference (except size ) is between the iron man and arb awnigs ? Is it the quality of materials?
Cheers

Looked at them all at the 4x4 show in
Melbourne late last year. They are the same. They are all coming out of China. Same as the Roof top tents. Same quality, different prices. Personally, I'd go the Ironman as at least they have great after sales service.

Funny how people have different experiences! I have an ARB awning and found out after 2 months of ownership that it wasn't supposed to have a bow in the rollout aluminum section (looked too perfectly formed to have been bent in transport). I took it back after comparing it with another one and ARB exchanged it no questions asked - couldn't get better service than that. And that has been my experience to date with ARB, great after-sales service. Maybe ARB do things differently out in the west :)
Cheers
Captain

Yep I reckon they might Captain. I've had a couple of issues with ARB and some of the products they badge as their own. The minute there's a problem, it's all of a sudden the fault of the manufacturer....take it up with them. I'd be looking for a franchisee owned store rather than a company owned. On the other hand, I can thoroughly reccomend Ironman because they stand by their products. Any issues (which have been very few), no squabling, Taken care of right away and anywhere in Oz they have a rep!
Cheers Mick.

I know nothing of the Ironman awning but I did see the folding brackets that join the fold down legs on an ARB broken while it was being erected in severe winds in the Simpson last year. I don'tknow if all the SRB canopies are the same, but I thought the brackets looked flimsy.

It's good that you've had a good outcome Captain, but from my experience, I'd agree with Mick O - it seems that ARB is very hesitant to provide after-sales service on products that they sell but don't manufacture: "ARB doesn't manufacture that, you'll have to take it up with the manufacturer..."
Personally, I'd be hesitant to buy anything from ARB unless is was manufactured by ARB themselves.

Another vote for Ironman - terrific after sales support in my experience. I wish I could say the same about ARB but I cannot - have had several bad experiences which is a pity since I generally believe they have good products.
