Hi all, may I ask of the large and ever growing knowledge bank that is the Exploroz forum, does anyone know what the standard exhaust pipe diameter is for an 80 series Cruiser with a 1hd-ft diesel. Also does anyone know if the water pumps are the same for aforementioned 1hd-ft and the 1hz.

Thanks in advance for any help

try joining up on the LCOOL website, lots of Toyota specific info and experts there and well worth accessing.

Try looking in this section of LCOOL,

I don't think you need to be registered to view this Technical part

Yep, did try the lcool site and found some good info on the tech part. I actually printed off the bit about tweaking some more bottom end go out of the 1hd-ft.
Lots of good stuff about Safari intercoolers and such including their 3" exhausts.
However I am still none the wiser as to whether this engine comes with a 2/12" or 2" system as standard and nothing (maybe not surprisingly) about the waterpumps.
I just thought someone on exploroz may have known.

While the particular info I was after this time wasn't there I have bookmarked the site. Thanks very much for that Rob, I agree 100% with their sentiments about getting info on older vehicles.

Loved the pics you have on your earlier travels, I was supposed to go with a mate on the CSR in 1983 but circumstances and family commitments didn't permit so I had to wait until 1998 to do the trip. I missed an opportunity back then.

Pop,
I'm pretty sure that they are 2 1/2 inch except where they squash them flat over the rear diff (look and you'll see what I mean.)

Hi,
A few months back I purchased a 3" exhaust off ebay though ExhaustQueen.
3" Exhaust
which are Scoots Rods.
Good people to deal with and very helpful.
Contact them and I'm sure they'll be able to help with your exhaust questions.
BTW, I'm very happy with the performance and fuel economy that a 3' system has given me. It revs more freely, has given more down low torque, and better fuel economy. also the oil doesn't blacken as quick, 500 bucks well spent.

I would guess it would be similar to other Landcruiser diesels I am familiar with and say it is likely 2.5" from the engine all the way to near the main muffler where it reduces to 2.25".
