Fishing at Piont Turton

Been invited to go to a shack at Point Turton SA. next week.

Anyone know what type of fish are caught in and around that area.

We have a 15 foot Dingy to use with a small outboard. So won't be going too far out.
I have not done much sea fishing , but have fished for tommy ruffs and gar fish before.
So I need some info on what bait and what type of set up on the line to pull in a good feed .
If anyone knows the area is it worth throwing in a couple crab nets while fishing in the boat.

Cheers Scoot . :-)

G'day Scoot,
You already have named the most likely catch although you might get lucky with a few others. Gents will be best for Gar and Cockles for Tommies. I hear the crabs are running OK at the moment. You can have 10 nets per person to a maximum of 30 per boat if memory serves me correctly. If you still have any hooped Yabby nets, they work OK. Opera house nets won't work. I will need to have a look in the shed, but I might have some nets in the shed. Give me a ring if you need any.
cheers

dash.

Des,

10 hoop nets per person only if no other fishing device is being used, if other fishing devices are used then it is 3 per person.

Silver / Yellowfin whiting in the shallows, maybe King George Whiting a bit further out. Cockles or nippers for both.
Gar (gents bait) over the weed, and also Squid possible over the weed.

Check the Fisheries / Primary Industries website for legal lengths, bag limits.

good luck,

glids
