Nic I
I recently joined the CMCA (Campervan & Motorhome Club of Australia) in an ultimately unsuccessful attempt to obtain reasonably priced insurance for my Cab/Chassis and traytop camper (but that's another story).
In a corollary to the recent EO poll on traveller types, I did find some very surprising member numbers though, which support the poll's self-described majority of
grey nomads/
explorers.
CMCA has over 60,000 members, and is signing up 700 new members EVERY MONTH !
An interesting expression of Australia's rapidly ageing, retiring
population and its leisure activities, and this is only one of many such organisations.
Time to buy shares in a campervan company and/or caravan
park chain ?

Nic,good idea albeit about 5/10yrs too late.
Alot of them don't get to see too much of this country (sadly)they either get sick or already sick & they get worse or they find they don't like the lifestyle 0r the remoteness of some of the
places.
Have a look at the Cmca For sale section,so many rigs for sale.

G'day Bob, I don't agree with your supposition that is the reason why so many units are for sale, sure there are quite a few elderly motorhomers but I've been a CMCA member for 13 years and have attended many rallys seeing the same faces year after year quite often with new rigs, just a matter of upgrading.
Like a lot of people I initially joined the CMCA for the members only insurance, I have a slide on and none of the other major insurance companies would insure that and my vehicle as a single unit. I went to a rally in the early days and met a lot of like minded people and was hooked as a keen member.

Yes, racinrob, I agree with you - it's a very good club with huge resources - a pleasant, friendly bunch.
Bob, with 700 new members each month I suspect that their largest
membership is still to come.

I'm a CMCA member too.
Membership is about 56,000 people, 28-29,000 vehicles.
I use the CMCA insurance scheme.
It is the best one that I could find, for us.
Cheers,
Peter
