Slug guns have been illlegal here for at least a decade.
I grew up with them, shot a few things i knew I shouldn't have, killed a pigeon just like in the Johnny Cash song, not "just to see him die" but "to practice my aim", never shot another bird again ever (except crows and indian minors).
So point is some adult in breach of his/her licence gave that slug gun to that kid, so lets hope they both get nailed.

Thanks Lionel
Yes, a 0.177 calibre air rifle, made in China by the billions, I bought
mine off the shelf from a disposal in Elizabeth when I was 16 I think, circa 1982 or thereabouts. You'd use those small lead coloured pieces of metal that either had a pointy end or a dull end - thus slug.
As opposed to my ball bearing shooting BB gun, which took the gold ball bearings.
Sadly that air rifle, which killed thousands of toads, was listed as a licensed weapon by my dad, even though he didn't buy it :-( and handed in for destruction when he handed in his gun license.

Air Rifle (slug Gun) are illegal in Victoria unless you have a shooter's licence & the weapon is registered. It is classified as a firearm and all rules & regulations pertaining to the use & storage of firearms apply. Also goes for any imitation. That is also deemed to be a firearm. Recently heard of a group who decided to use a "lemon gun" & kill Koala's. Lemon guns are PVC pipe made by people that have in the construction a section to hold gas (Usually the cigarette lighter butane) which is sprayed into section of pipe (holding the lemon) an ignitor which has probably been pinched by neighbourhood kids off your outside gas water heater whilst you are travelling OZ. Ignighter spark lights gas, explosion & lemon now lethal projectile. Idiots using these items have been known to injure themselves & friends, damage caravans & vehicles belonging to others & not to mention various neighbourhood pets & wild life. Some have blasted projectiles 200 metres or more. Recently I heard a story about two grown men shooting Koala's with sling shots as the poor things were sitting helpless in the trees. The worst part of this, these morons did this in the presence of their wives & small children. We all must dob in these idiots, take photos with our cameras or phones, take rego numbers and inform the police & other authorities. Possession of sling shots & Shanghai's is also forbidden under most laws as regulated or declared weapons and can be confiscated by police & severe penalties involved. Imagine this idiot parents appearing before the judicery & asked by the judge to explain their actions in front of their children

Hi Lionel,
(Modsquad get your bleepometer ready)
Poor little fella didnt even have a chance when some imbo decides it would be fun to pump slugs into him.
Kinda angrys up the blood to think catching the person(s) who did it and making them pay is would be very difficult.
Lets hope the oxygen thief who did it gets what he/she/they deserve. What goes around comes around.
Cheers Wilko

After scanning the
forum and descovering this sad news, I also scanned the on line news headlines.
Some of the high points,
Woman tortures her son to recieved sympathy money,
P plate driver caught at 191 K/h in parents Merc,
Women threatened with jail for noisey sex,
Woman kills boyfriend by sitting on him,
Children to be scanned for obesity from 6 at school.
This was in the first 15 items.
Later I see that, soon we might be able to live to 1000. Perhaps the better question would be,"Who would want to".
I thought I was becoming a grumpy old man but what is the world coming to.

Hi Lionel, this is awful,
It breaks my heart. It was probably teenagers playing with their Christmas present. Sadly, some of humanity have always been like this. If they get such joy out of killing things, then they should kill themselves!
Take care,safe ravels.
Bye. Sally
