Has anyone heard of a caravan going in to
Talbotville, & if so, what length? Any info would be useful. Cheers :)

Looks like an interesting trip in a 4WD. Not too sure about a van though.
Google Earth shows the tracks nicely

Been camping in
Talbotville longer then I want to remember, McMillans Track would be to narrow in
places even the back way through Black Snake has some narrow bits. Have a caravan myself now and thinking about camping at Grant, very easy with a van, no water or
toilets is the only hassle.

Andre,
There is a
toilet at Grant, just behind the old Bank of Victoria site and there is water on the track to the
old mine shaft.

Hi Kay bee,
Have you ever been to
Talbotville? If you go the way we went ,up the crooked
river track you will only have a draw bar left. Its getting out of the rivers wit a few steep exits that would cause you grief .A small camper may be ok.

A friend of
mine was up there just recently with a
Kimberley Camper, so a camper will get there but don't know about a van though.

Kaybee,
A lot would depend on how good you are at reversing a caravan on a narrow winding track with a
rock face on one side and a drop off on the other side.
If you were still keen on wanting ti take a caravan down there, drive it first with out the caravan and
check it out.
I know that trucks do get down McMillan track but they are escorted by a Parks Vic vehicle. They are the trucks that pump out the long drops in
Talbotville camp site, and you would not want to run a truck like that off the track.
Talbotville is such a
great camp site, full of history, it would be a shame to
camp there with out the
Southern Cross in full view overhead and the moon rising over Bull town Spur.

The road thru from Grant will fit a caravan BUT If you met someone coming the other way, it would get very intresting, especally for you coming out.
not wide enough for 2 vehicles in alot of
places and scary when you are on top of a
cliff trying to make room for someone to pass.
I would take a van down there ONLY if I could garrantee I wasn't going to meet someone coming the other way.

Nov weekend there were a few vans down there. Id say the biggest one there was 18-19ft.
If you met someone else with a van coming the other way youd be pretty stuffed.
