On the Canning Stock Route, has anyone experienced the theft of their fuel from the fuel dump at Well 23?

We were there about 2002, no probs. We had to leave some behind when we had a change of plan. I hope some one in trouble got some use out of it.They'll only deliver full 44 gall drums. You have to order and pay well in advance but it's well worth it.

Take care, safe travels.
Bye Sally.

Graham, no problem for us last year but its a big relief to actually find your drum with your name on it.

Hi Graham, there were some problems back in 2005 that we are aware of but not sure about now, apparently people were finding that some of their diesel had been taken and then topped up with water, sounds like all has changed.
We put a long range tank on for the CSR (best thing we did) so didn't need it ourselves. Good luck with your trip, you will enjoy it.

Cheers

Image Could Not Be FoundYes, Graham. Last year, our travelling companions were contacted by Capricorn Roadhouse before we had reached the Canning and were told that their fuel had been stolen - I don't think the whole lot was taken, but am not sure. Capricorn Roadhouse advised that they would be replacing it. It was there when we got to Well 23, only trouble was that our friends had had to pull out of the trip and didn't need the fuel. $500 down the drain! But none of that would stop me from ordering it another time.

It was a long time ago that we did the CSR and I think Capricorn RH has changed hands since then but the guy who did the fuel drops then gave us his VHF callsign and told us to contact him if our fuel was missing. He would authorise us to use someones who was not coming along for some time and he would replace theirs. Ours was there so no problems.

Thanks to everyone for their prompt replies. On the whole, it seems that the arrangement with Capricorn Roadhouse works quite well, with just occasional hiccups. I feel sure therefore that our convoy of 4 vehicles will take advantage of it when we do the trip in June. Thanks once again. Graham and Flip.

Graham

In short, no !
But I went through the "What If's" .....?????..on our way in from well 23...

As I am sure most people do.

It's really good to notice that 98% of people in this country are still honest.

Cheers

Some years ago a friend had a drum of their fuel taken.
They were able to supliment their fuel by using used drums marked as "please use, couldn't take", or words to that affect, on half full drums, or near empty ones.
