Unbelievable in what way:

The bloke fed the dog against the rules of his employer, or

The human side of him may have seen [possibly] a starving animal, gave it a tit-bit and lost his job because of it.

Either way he should have been spoken to but not sacked.

Crikey, if we sacked people for breaking a rule, there wouldn't be anyone gainfully employed in the country.

Never been to the place nor is it on my bucket list but, having glossed over many posts relating to this destination, I personaly get the impression that the biggest threat or problem to the area are travellers not the dingo.

Bet your've seen more people you would rather 'put down humanly' than the dingo.

Cheers.....Lionel.

Lionel,

I've never been there either and the thought of venturing there is the furthest from my mind. I've read enough about it to put it into the "this is where the feral idiots go to play" bucket.

On the other hand, I've seen more than enough warnings regarding feeding dingoes etc to understand the uphill battle the rangers at that location face all year round. To have one of their own disregard the policies is just absurd.

Do you really think this fool deserves a warning ? I never pictured you as an apologist for idiots like this bloke.

G'day Lionel,

Our views obviously differ on this subject. I respect your opinion but I feel his dismissal was justified under the circumstaces, it is well publisized that you should not feed the dingoes on Fraser Is so ignorance is no excuse.

I have been over to Fraser too many times to remember from as way back as the early 70's and would highly reccomend both you and Gramps add it to your "must see" list. It is truely a special place. Been far too long since my last visit unfortunately.

Regards, Trevor.

Easy to judge from behind a keyboard - and I am talking about the ranger who fed a dingo once. Yeah rules are rules and if caught doing something wrong you can expect to be dealt with accordingly, which you can assume he has. But we do not know the circumstances or the why and you certainly wont get that from any media source.

I believe that I met this ranger in question in Dec and he was very professional and quite enthusiastic about his job. Perhaps he felt it inhumane to see these animals starve - even though that is the way of mother nature.

I dont know why he did it, he shouldnt have, but I certainly wont judge him by internet forum and call him a fool or ask where do they find them etc.

Do you want a medal or a chest to pin it on ?

He was professional enough to stuff up big time. If he was worried about the animals starving he should have noticed it earlier and taken the correct actions. He just proved he was'nt suited to the job as it stands, whether you or I agree or not.

Do you want a dunce cap or a head to put it on?

I said I agree with the stiff penalty for his actions by the dapartment that he belonged to, but certainly not the trial by media or internet forum.

I hope you never stuff or do anything remotely illegal in your life to then find yourself in the media or on this forum. But maybe your actions are beyond reproach.

Not at all Kovac. Just posting topics in line with the site's orientation.

p.s. I was wondering when you'd join in.
