G,day.
I know fridges are a touchy item (NOW) , same as a Ford or Holden , but fridges sound worse. Has any body been able to read the results of the test against another 13 brands, This test was carried out by Vipac. Vipac has at it's disposal a National Testing Authorities (NATA) approved climate controlled chamber ,which has an operating temperature range of between -37C and 90C. For a period of 24hours 13 quality fridges were placed inside the chamber and subjected to temperatures likley to encounter in the bush from 15C to 55C. This was done to replicate the back of a closed vehicle in summer. Worth a read , but not being a PC expert by any means I only know how to foward as a PDF by email. This isn't meant to create WWW111 OK.
Hope every body had a great Aussie day
-:) Any way put another cold one in ya fridge and enjoy the BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD.

This was done quite a long time ago AFAIK.

To me this is only one part of the equation.

My assessment considers RELIABILITY to have a much heavier weighting than amps used so now you know which brand I have.

Well we couldn't possibly know which of the reliable Aussie made fridges you have but at least you didn't get an Engel or a Waeco :-))
PS: Yet another Waeco failed at last weekends camp.

When I said another Waeco failed I meant it stopped cooling so they had to put their food & drink in our fridge. I'm no expert on them but there was 12.5V to the unit so it wasn't a supply problem. I have no doubt the warrenty will ensure the fridge is repaired quickly, that is one thing Waeco are very good at but that didn't help them out in the bush when they want a cold beer.
I only mentioned the recent failure as they are the brand that stop the most on group trips that I've been on. While on paper they may win tests, their reliability at times in the field seems to be poor whether it be lids warping, latches falling off, electronics failing or just blowing fuses, I've seen them all.
Glad to hear you're having a good run with yours, I'd certainly hope & expect that many people don't ever have problems.
No filter just that I'm not a member so it's been deemed by the ExOz management there be no messaging for me.

Cheers Craig...............

Unfortunately they only had a 1 year warrenty but then we've never had to touch either :-)

What the full reoprt (done a few years ago) doesn't mention is:
One manufacturer didn't submit a unit for testing because he was aware of another manufacturer 'tweaking' the test fridge to get favourable results.
And another brand that took 4 units to get one that gave the claimed performance and results !!

Crackles,
I am on the road full time with our business , I have never meet any body that's had a problem with their Waeco . The only time I read about peoplems is on OZ , I have been a member since 2005 in that period i think I have looked at OZ approx 12 times mate. Some time ago I made a (mistake) when I mentioned one of our products so I can't really say any thing accept , people have the 07 5507 6040, I think 1800 waeco your 1st easy step for assistance. It's now Thursday so what did waeco tell your Friends . I know a lot of people don't read their instructions .

Just enjoy every day mate you have no idea what's around the corner.
My life went down the toilet after 3 major spinal operations , I was doing kick boxing weights, surfed large waves and rode Speedway Solos was going to England until I gave in and allowed spinal operation number 1 , 2 and 3 . Just enjoy the fact your going bush ya got a fridge and mates ,ok . I didn't want to create any problems infact the only way i know how to forward the test results i mentioned is by attachment x email.

Stay well mate -:)
Steve

It never ceases to amaze me that they cant get the terminology correct.

"Average Power Consumption = 0.87 amps/hr"

Just kidding guys , but maybe we hear about so many failures due to shear volume of product. If there are twice as many waeco out there its reasonable to expect twice the amount of reported failures.
