Gday guys.I have recintly purchest a 91 GQ patrol diesel whith approximatly 200000 ks on the clock. There seems to be a grating type vibrating noise coming from the gearbox at low revs 600-1000 in all gears.Worst of all in first and second.Could it be bearings or clutch or what?As far as I can tell the vehicle has not been abused, still all standard.Has any one else had similar problems, what ushely goes on these vehicles?
thanks for all the help

Get the gearbox serviced first by a proper spanner man,
check the oil for metal, and then see how it goes..

How do you service a gear box?? Changing the oil is it apart from dismantling it ....

It wouldn't be a GQ if it didn't growl at low revs. Some are noisier than others, but they all growl. It would however be a good idea to change all of the transmission oils if you are not aware when it was last done. An awkward job but you'll save a mint if you can manage it. I think Gregories have a workshop manual for them.Lol.

Unlike 80 and 100 series owners, who have problems from front diffs blowing, to engines dying, I'd be happy with a noisey gearbox.
