Hi all, further to my ThreadID: 74823, weve just come back from a week's great 4WDing down the south coasts forests and beaches; mainly D'entrecasteaux NP.

In the thread I asked some Q's re whether it was possible to cross the Warren etc and got some great responses.

The results:

The Warren was absolutely impassable with a good flow and a swell punching in against it.

The Meerup was flowing but the going just above the swell was hard and a vehicle had crossed it earlier at lower tide. We bailed back to Calcup Dunes as by the time we reached it the swell was periodically crossing the route and slapping the bench. As a single vehicle I chickened altho I guessed that I would have been OK if I timed it right. The trip back up Calcup was worth the experience in any case.

The Gardner was soft and impassable as one poor sod found out on the east bank. This was taken at about 1600 and the car was still there the next morning; probably awaiting a rescue party from the other side.

Cheers.

Saltwater and salty sand in a new Cruiser. Not for me I'm afraid. Bob.
