Hi All
We are finally going to try to use our GPS on the computer. 1st problem, we can't find the map source disk it came with. As we have relocated we are not sure where it is. Can we get around this?
Won't bother with any other questions until we get this one sorted.
Thanks Lyndon

G'day Lyndon, are you referring to the Garmin mapsource program? Unless there's a free download somewhere, it's about $30 for a copy of the program from
places like GPSoz or GPS australia. I believe that you should be able to connect the GPS to your mapping program if that is installed (ozi for example) without having mapsource installed. Mapsource is for manageing and recording track files etc from your GPS unit. If it's the driver disk for your GPS you will be able to get around that by searching the internet for the appriopriate program/driver. The computer should prompt you to do this when you connect it for the first time. Just make sure you're plugged into the internet as
well.
I'm no expert on it so I hope I'm heading in the right direction. Pretty sure an expert will be a long soon. Goos luck.
Mick

That free map seems to be only a base map, your CD you can't find is probably CN 6 OR 7 , when I bought my Quest It came with CN5 , Do your self a favour and get either CN 2010 or the Garmin Topo to run on the PC , if you get Topo don't load it into the old Quest, save it for a better unit you might buy in the future.

I don't think CN2010NT will work in the Quest, it has to be the 2009 non NT version Garmin Topo Aus will work

I think it is a Quest 2. We bought it in 2007 so I think it came with 2007 maps, we didn't get around to registering it for a while so the dealer where we bought it loaded 2008 for free. Can I go through the menu to find whats on it/
Thanks Lyndon
Ps. Hey Skippy, ever get around to using that Finer Filter fluid? :-)

If you are trying to connect a Quest to a computer for real time mapping etc download nRoute from Garmin. It works perfectly and should satisfy your needs.
You can download Mapsoource from Garmin but you will need your 'key code' etc to unlock it. If you established a user account with Garmin when you initially installed the relative software then you can either retrieve that info from them or from the e-mail they would have sent you when they confirmed registration. If the Quest is still running i.e. the original software is still installed, there is also a way that you can retrieve the unlock key and customer number from it during the Mapsource install/unlock process.
Mapsource will not run unless it is unlocked.
