I had been looking for a Old 4WD for under $10000. Geese is there some rubbish out there commanding unreasonable money. I tested some 250k plus Nissan Patrols. Not impressed The 2.8 turbo would have to be the slowest thing I have ever driven.

Anyway I stumbled on this HJ80 just traded to a Dealer not even detailed. Very high Ks in fact 470,000 of them. The dealer said it drove ok and wanted $9000 for it. I thinks to myself with that many Ks it sure to be stuffed. Wrong. oh so very very wrong.

Turns out the vehicle was a one owner serviced every 5000 by Toyota, had 4 Brand new FB Goodrich AT Tyres. Roof Racks, Air. Dual Battery, Bull bar, Lift Kit, all the normal stuff and original log books. I am a Automotive engineer by trade and I could not fault this thing with the exception of the clear coat on the roof starting to deteriorate.

Haggled with the Dealer and I am now the proud owner of a HJ80 with 470,000km on the clock and I am sure if some one had altered the speedo to 150,000 none would know the difference. By the way I got it for $7000. Just goes to show if you look after a vehicle it will keep on keeping on.

Cheers
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

I recently sold my beloved 1991 GXL diesel with 330K on the clock. They are a great vehicle and tough as.
When I sold mine it still didn't use any oil even when towing. Hopefully yours is the same.

Good luck with yours.

Better than a shopping trolley that had cold starts every day and never got hot. My 4.2 GQ is being looked after very well. Nearly 300 000km (the last 100 000km very hard) and 19 years and still not missing a beat.
