Shared some maps the other day but we couldnt get some of them to open using his computer and OZI. now these maps definitly work for me and for a trial version of OZI we have on the work computer.

Having a look it would open
- Jpeg maps
and OZF2 maps

but not
ECW
or
OZFX3

is there some sort of unticked option box? or is it a very old version of OZI?

Hi
Without anything else to go on would suggest its just an old version of Ozi.
Cheers

PS..with respect to ecw format files you may also need to download a file as explained below...

ECW Image Loading Support Files

The extra files which are required to read the ECW compressed images are here ecwdll.zip Unzip into the Windows folder (windows or winnt).

If you already have other software that uses ECW you may already have these dll's in the windows folder so there is no need to download them again.

OZFX3 support came out in Release Version 3.95.4d (October-2004)..so if the version is older than this you will get error message described.

Cheers

Yeah just go to the oziexplorer webpage and download latest and greatest. You shouldnt have to re-enter the reg key.

And the best bit of this "pretty sure if he still has the key for it he can just update on the net" is once you get past a certain version, provided Ozi has Internet access it'll automatically check and tell You when an update is available!

Based on my experience you dont, but thats just my experience. I dont recall ever having to re-enter it when upating, only when (obviously) if changing computers or installing in a different directory. Anyway - do what ever works..its easy enough.

Too true Davoe, that would be why I referenced back to your statement: "pretty sure if he still has the key for it he can just update on the net" !

The website specifically states that upgrading will use the existing registration...

"Upgrading from a Previous Version

If you are upgrading from a version prior to 3.90 (3.85 or 3.80 or previous) you should download the full installation to make sure you get all the new files required. Install the new version over the top of the old version, it will use most of your existing settings and registration."

..so figure you guys must be doing something "non-standard" if you have to re-netr the reg code...but no big deal - pays to have the "key" safely stored somewhere, as losing it can make life hard.

Greg,
You and I are doing exactly the same thing, I've only ever entered my key the once.

Now days all I do is download the update, load and away it goes!
