Could anyone please give me info on which brands of electric brake controllers are better than others, so far i have looked at redarc ebrh and Tekonsha P3 prodigy, would love some feed back from anyone who runs either of these. Braking system is on an O'Briens camper trailer, approx weight when loaded 1000kg. Thanks.

I have the Redarc & find it very good, because of it's small size it was also easy to find a spot to fit it.

If you do a seach on the forum for Prodigy or brake controllers you will find a

majority for the Prodigy or the new P3 which is the same but with more

diagnostic features..

Have had one for 3 years using two different vans and completely satisfied and it cost me about $100 more than present price.

Easy to install and set up.

i would recommend tekonsha .
my mum and dad have had the same tekonsha brake controller for must be near on 20 years. they took it from their commodore to their jackaroo , and changed vans 5 times, all with the same controller . they are still using their same haymen reece tow setup as well.

i have had my tekonsha for 9 years and 2 different vans. no troubles at all.

I have had a Redarc and now a Tekonsha Prodigy. Tekonsha definitely better, finer control, easier to move between vehicles or to set up one vehicle for more than one trailer. The Redarc was OK, but Tekonsha better (but quite a bit dearer.)

Tekonsha P3 hands down

Do a search on any forum and on each that would be the majority opinion

More user friendly than the Tekonsha Prodigy, better features

The benifit of the Redarc is that it is smaller to mount on your dash

I have a Prodigy

Am not that impressed with it. Maybe it's just because I trashed my coupling, on our recent trip, or maybe it's just because I cannot use it my trailer as an anchor, by throwing the lever, to straighten up the Patrol on some of the steep ground I sometimes find myself on .

Maybe it's the user syndrome, but just switching from the Navara ( which had a Tekoncha Voyager controller, which worked excellently,) to the Patrol, that had to have a Prodigy, which, even today, I can barely feel it come on,, even when I throw the bypass lever, for anchor control ..

Makes me wonder, if the Prodigy is as good as it's cracked up to be.

One thing for sure, is that with my new setup, it keeps me onto the trailer brakes, adjusting them, and checking all the time.

May eventually get a Redarc for ease, and convenience of location.

Cheers
Bucky
