Looking at the latest Triton ad on TV, I noticed something was a bit odd.

When I went back for a look and paused it, the footage is clearly seen to be a Triton towing a camper, travelling on flat ground and the camera has been tilted over at about 30 degrees.

Why did they need to fake it ? Couldn't the Triton have made it up the hill ?

Other parts of the ad appear to have been sped up, but not sure about that.

One thing I know - I do not drive my Cruiser over rough ground at the speed he was going. I think ads like that make us all appear to be redknecks.

Willie.

Willie,
all the manufactures do the same thing, from driving through surf, cutting up the country side as if there is no tomorrow, driving over rocks at speed and if you believe them they can even drive up Mt Everest.

Guess this must appeal to many of the punters, why let reality get in the way of fiction.

What I wonder about, is who aret he lucky buyers of these tenderly looked after demo vehicles.

Have a good one

If we were smart.... we would complain to consumer affairs every time we saw one of these ads.... things would change. Trouble is, we would spend all our time doing nothing else but talk to consumer affairs. The upside is... we would get to know the staff at consumer affairs very well.... lol...

I work there. Advertising has always been a bone of contention.

Advertising a vehicle driving through the surf and then denying a person warranty for doing the same thing is not on.

Poetic license is granted in advertising eg 4*4 sitting on top of Mt Everest. That is poetic license.

Not having seen the add I can't comment on the speed of the Triton but I will defend it's towing capabilites. The Triton is short only 30 Nm compared to your cruiser so quite capable of towing a load.

Dave.
Not wishing to contradict or cast aspersions but out the back of Coramba (behind Coffs Harbour) I saw 2 horses snig a saw log up a hill that the then current Landcruiser could not move.
Ironically a well loaded series 1 long wheelbase Land Rover (this was in 1966) pulled a bigger log than the 2 horses could.
Is it horses for courses, or weight and gearing?
I am still a wee bit old fashioned in this regard, still owning a 2.25 diesel Land Rover trayback which I reckon would tow a heavier mass than your Triton.
It aint Nm, its weight and gearing.
As for those ads.............. BS.
