Birdsville Track

The Birdsville Track runs south from Birdsville to Maree and passes through the Sturt Stony Desert. It is an extremely remote region but is strikingly beautiful in its harshness.

Teraa

Most of the stations on and off the track have recieved close to their yearly average in just a few days. One of the locals trapped on the track spent 8 hrs travelling from Marree to Mungerannie. The wildflowers and reveg is amasing.

Oh my gosh,

We were there mid last year and it was as dusty and dry as..... Can immagine it would not be fun in the wet. Should be great for the cattle though - hope they get good prices.

Going up there in Sept. Bet it will be dry and dusty again by then.

Proably,the sand storms get more severe every year the meanest of all didn't get on tele was on the 26.11.09 moved our 3 tonne truck packed with fencing gear along, lifting it's back wheels of the ground lasted longer as well than anything I'd seen before. BOM didn't see it until I rang them I wouldn't like to have been in a light aircraft. We seem to have season of now with the most of them occuring in Sept. - Jan.

Did it in 05 with and bumped into the the crew from Kadina , actually Yorke Peninsular 4x4 Club,,and yes Roachie was there..

Had a ball in the wet with them, playing in the mud all the way up the track. but we were too early to see many wild flowers..

Got some great video of the Birdsville Track and also the floods at Delta Springs near Purni Bore in the Simpson

Hope it's all gone by the end of May ..SWMBO wants to do the Simpson
