Hi all. I have a current 4WD dual cab hilux with ARB high rise canopy and I want to fit roof racks to carry a sea kayak. I have been told by one rack installer that racks on the cabin can't be made high enough to lift the kayak above the canopy. Does anyone carry a sea kayak on racks on a dual cab with high rise canopy, and if you do, what brand is it?
Not really a 4wd question, but hoping someone can help.
Thanks,
Rodge

G'day Rodge,
Try ARB - they have roof racks that are supported from inside the canopy - they may be strong enough to support the entire weight of the kayak without having the racks on the actual roofof your D/C.

How much higher is the canopy over the cab?
I needed extra height racks to clear the pop-top on my troopy.
I ended up with Prorack Tradesman Bars, the legs are about 300mm I think from memory.

Hi
I had the same problem with my Navara with an ARB canopy. Ended up bolting on to the Bull bar 2 aluminium tubes approx 400mm long and then had an H frame made up that slides into it so its removable. The kayaks sit over the bonnet and cab which has a Rola roof rack attached to it.
Hope this helps
cheers Dave

Thanks Tim, Glenn and Dave for your suggestions. Will look into all 3 ideas. The H frame on the bullbar is something I hadn't thouight of - might be the way to go if roof racks are too difficult. By the way Glenn - what an awesome Troopie you have.
Cheers , Rodge
