Kids in tow
Hi All,
I've just been reading a lot of advise given in these chats and it seems pretty damn good, so if you can offer any my way I'd be thrilled.
I'm about to upgrade my 1993 80 series landcruiser (love this car, will be hard to give it up). It's lpg, is @ 400,000kms and it's time to move on.
I'm looking at a diesel 100 series 2001 cruiser and I want it to last me the next 10 - 15 years. But I'm wondering whether a prado might be the way to go? They're certainly cheaper but are they just as good? I need to pull a small jayco and be able to do heavy sand and rough track terrain; and I have 3 boys not far off the teenage years (god help me) so I need space!
I've worked with a lot of landcruisers and I think they're brilliant, but I've no clue about prados - space/towing/tough enough/live long lives?
I'm a chick so go easy on the tech talk! I'm also a single mum and don't want to get worked over by the car sales boys. So if anyone out there has an opinion I'd love to know!
Thanks.

A friend of
mine has a Diesel Prado and often takes four kids with camping gear in the Victorian High Country. He loves it and seems to think there is enough storage. He also tows trailers on a regular basis to Dog Shows. This has the dogs as
well as camping gear in it. As far as taking trailer off road, there I can not help.

The Prado is a capable 4wd and will take 99% of drivers to 99% of the
places they want to go. Regarding space actually take the 3 boys to go and have a look with you. If they are tall then leg room will be appreciated. Could they handle several hours if they are cramped in the backseat?
How did you go with space in the 80 series? Will you need more space than that? Measure up the Prado and 100 series and compare remembering that more space, rather than less, is better.
People tow large camper trailers off road and mid sized caravans with them without hassle. Prado owners love their cars, they are the real deal.
