Ron

Most hourmeters are driven electrically so there may be a way to do that but there was a type that worked off vibrations from the machine that they were attached to. I'm not sure if you can still buy them. Maybe a call to an instrument maker/supplier?

Cheers Pop

Buy any one of these

And simply connect it up to the 12v outlet and away you go.

I've got a Tiny Tach on my gennie, keeps track of total run hours, service intervals and has a tacho output as well.

Honestly Ron, It can't be that hard for a work shop to do.
I don't think I'd be taking anything back to them either, if they can't supply and fit one.

Hello Ron,
I put an hour meter on my Honda EU201. All it involved was wrapping the pick up wire around the spark plug cable about 4 times, I secured it with a couple of small cable ties. To attach the meter to the Genny I used double sided velcro from Bunnings. Hope this helps.

Hi Ron,
I have one fitted to our ride on mower and it's the same as rainlovers, a red wire wound around the spark plug wire and a white wire bolted onto the metal frame as an earth.

Its a briggs and stratton brand guage and was fitted by the mower shop at my first service.

Cheers

What a great idea for measuring the running time of generators. I did not know that these existed. Certainly takes the guess work of guaging the running time of the generator for servicing.

Have taken the suggestion of the one on ebay which I have just bought. Good price at $29.98.

To idea.

Patrick

Hi Ron, I solved my problem of recording run hours on my EU10 by just changing the oil after every trip away. I do it myself and it only uses 250ml and takes about 5 mins. If you use it for long periods while you are away, an estimate of hours is good enough or they would have one fitted as standard. Have a look at the colour of your oil after 50hrs use and you will be amazed at how clean it is. It works well for me. Cheers, Dave
