hi, we are trying to workout where the second battery goes on our GQ which is a 4.2 petrol with LPG, the only place we have thought it could go is where the air filter is, if so what do you do with the air filter? thanks from chris.

Hi Chris,

I have the 4.2 deisel and mine is mounted on the passenger side, just behind the air filter and along side the radiator overflow tank. There is a mounting bracket that goes around the tank. Don't know what the petrol engine looks like compared to mine so hope this helps. I bought mine second hand it already came like that so don't ask me where the mounting frame came from!

If you want I may be able to post a picutre

Hi gonebush, the main air filter is ontop of the carby but some GQ's have the pre cleaner mounted behind the LH front headlight.
I took mine off and placed the second battery there.

A neighbor of mine had a Petrol GQ. His second battery was mounted on the firewall, left side and up fairly high.

I don't know if he moved anything to put it there but it was nice and neat and still left foom for a compressor.

hi again, our air filter is on top of motor with the air induction going down to behind the pass side headlight and our gas convertor is near the fire wall on the same side, thanks from chris.

with a gq on gas they usually fit the mixer on the left hand side against the fire wall thats where the gq petrol duel battery goes but if you fit a gq diesel one and a bit of fidling with a few bits coil etc it fits quite good it sits in the same place as a standard battery but on the opposite side ive just finished fitting mine (gq on gas)
cheers

hi, yes that's about the only place we thought there was a chance of fitting it but what did you do with the air intake pipe? as ours goes from the airfilter to the rear of the passengers side headlight, thanks from chris.
