The ‘voice over is lacking a bit’ but we’ll fix that up over time.

Every other thing was donated by professionals and that meant a lot to this small town. Note the young girls who took their time out to dress up in the historic house. They had a ball...!

Equally so the Fishermen’s Cottage, I’m standing there thinking, ‘how long does it take to arrange a bloody table for a three second shoot’. LOL

Then I was asked to get into a ‘flying brick’.

It was hard work, but we got there eventually. So here it is www.tooradinvillage.com.au 'The Village by the Sea'.

Ps A great community effort.

Regards

Kim

Great work by all involved Kim

and I now know not to call the town TooRADDIN - fair dinkum a bloke feels a right git visiting you t'other siders.

You could work your way round the country for free lodgings I reckon, if you offered to knock up similar presentations as that show. Many a small community would kill for that sort of promotion - maybe it will kick off a wave of 'copy cats'.

Hope so - and you can take all the credit - Well done

Gidday Phil

I don’t take any credit for this what so ever. All I did was round up the locals and they did the rest. A great bunch of blokes and girls to work with once they came on board.

There was a post on here recently asking for the worse town in Australia. I couldn’t see the point of the post. Maybe something more positive, such as how the towns are going to be fixed. Then all travellers benefit from improvements.

It’s not hard, nor is it easy. However once there’s a focus, most things are achievable over time.

The other small towns are taking an interest now, so we’ll see how we go.

Regards

Kim

Well done Kim. It looks and feels very professional. Let hope others will promote their town as you have done here. Steve.B...

Kim,

Looks good, I checked the EO places for Tooradin and there is no additional info provided for it.

I am assuming this is it, as I had to look it up to find where it was LOL

I reckon you should have a crack at updating Places as I reckon this thread will get lost in the archives before too long and all your efforts will go to waste.

Cheers Kev

Have fun,

I have tried updating a few places and I don't know if there is an option to upload videos :(

Cheers Kev

RE: videos - would you think loading the video straight in or Vimeo or YouTube is perferable? If the later option, we can have that function loaded to Places in the next day or two (according to David who is currently working on a major image management system cross-site to better facilitiate new features in this area). Let us know your requirements - email david@itbeyond.com.au thanks,

Gooday Kim,
when I was a little tacker, Tooradin was a regular stop for our family on the way to the big smoke. It happened maybe half dozen times a year. After the mandatory pit stop, the bakery was the high priority stop.

Unfortunately, the traffic on the highway became very heavy and Tooradin was a bit of a bottleneck. Several people were killed over the years when they tried to park in front of the shops, or re-enter traffic after stopping. It just became too dangerous to stop, so people didn't; unfortunately that included our family. The fishing fleet mostly disappeared and so did many of the people who lived there or nearby.

Obviously, with your help and many of the locals, Tooradin is back on the up and up. Well done guys. Congratulations.

Gidday Fred

Don’t get me started on the speed limit! We’ve tried three times to lower it to 60klm, but Vic roads won’t listen, nor will the coppers. That doesn’t mean we’ll give up.

Ken Baker (the owner of the bakery) has now opened an Ice creamery next store, but the obstinate buggar won’t listen to my advice about connecting both of them physically.

The bakery is more popular than ever, and now employs six staff to keep up with the demand.

Good one Kim.

An impressive effort that all involved, should be proud of.

The gentle, yet compelling "invitation" by the video was a much better style than the ... in your face, get here and spend money ... styles, some locations rely on.
