Hi,
The front OP Shaft bearing on my 80 is a little noisy. I replaced the oil with a heavier weight 80w/140 and it went quiet.
Now the question isdo I have to remove the case to replace it or can it be done with the case still in the car?

The rear OP bearing seems fine. When I turn it by hand it is smooth however the front one has a rattly feel to it.

Also, is there any harm in running the heavier grade oil?

Thanks,
ROb

Hi Rob
It's not hard to remove the transfer case from the gearbox in the vehicle.
As for just removing the front out put shaft haven't tried that yet.
The rear out put can be done in the vehicle.

Rob

I only ever made one mistake
and that's when I thought I was wrong!
