We are looking for information on the following tracks
1. Carson River Stn to Oombulgurri
2. Oombulgurri to Home Valley

We are aware of the remoteness and difficulty, but would like information such as Track detail, GPS track files (plt), Waypoints and any other relevant information from people that have ACTUALLY TRAVERSED THESE TRACKS.
We have looked through the old archives but have not found any info of substance. Any help with the above would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

That photobucket link looked like fun. Reminiscent of the trip around the Karunji Track and Swamp Shortcut. I wonder how we would go as we travel alone. But I must admit the car is set up a bit more thoroughly than the Toyotas.

I like the Oki MH.

And my good friend WHATS WITH THE FERRY!!!!!! Don't blame you. Nuff is nuff.

Glorious country.

Thanks Motherhen. Yes I did see their web site but it only covers the Home Valley to Oombulgurri section. I does have some interesting pictures.

Contact Home Valley station and see if they have directions. I would also ask if there are any permits required. Handy to get them up front. We found that the local resorts sometimes have route and driving instruction leaflets. Ph: 08 9161 4322. Email: info@homevalley.com.au

We were up at Home Valley last year and were impressed with the "local" staff knowledge. Not the "travelling" staff, as expected, so ask for assistance on some local knowledge should get the right person.

Missed that one. Looks like we have to go back. Bugger!!! Did the Karunji Track though. Try it also. Info leaflet and map through Emma Gorge Resort.

We looked into this trip a couple of years back, but decided against it following advice from locals. The track is very rarely travelled and at that time had suffered major washouts which would have required a lot of trackwork. Oombulgurri to Home Valley was reckoned the easy bit, though would require approval of the local community. The fact that Oombulgurri is serviced by barge rather than via the track to Home Valley didn't say much for the track either.

At the Carson River end, approval from Carson River Station is required. Good people who provided valuable comment. They do not want tourists in the area when mustering, but otherwise were very helpful. Strongly recommend talking to them before your plans get too advanced.
