Thinking of getting a 3 inch exhaust for my V8 ute and was wondering who has one and what brand did you get.

Also has anyone used a 'Mantra' exhaust system.

Hi there GB

Well a little bit. LOL. I would like to hear that V8 rumble. The stock exhaust is just too quiet.

A couple of the local blokes have 3" exhaust on their V8 cruiser traybacks and they sound so much better than mine. :(

One day might do the same. There is just a little boy racer still left in me. :)

My spelling mistake

It is a 'Manta' exhaust sytem - has anyone had one of these.

I believe they are a WA based exhaust company supplying mandrel bent exhaust systems.

Have only ever heard good things about Manta exhausts. Heaps of mates have used them on everything from Commodores to 75 series Cruisers. Good prices, not sure about there power gains, but they always sound good. Good quality exhausts.

David,

I've got a manta exhaust on my 79 series V8. Bolted on very easily and I've had no issues with it at all.

The sound is obviously louder (only a small 'hotdog' type resonator/muffler on mine version) but there isn't any anoying drone when doing the long highway kilometers either.

I have had 2 4.2 TD cruiser both with 3 inch mandrel bent exhausts, one was a taipan the current is a mercury. Both gave good gains and made driving more enjoyable.

The taipan was slightly louder on the freeway.

Either way, I would recommend the 3 inch exhaust to anyone considering it, 4,6 or 8 cylinder.

Hi David, not familiar with the Mantra exhaust. I put a 3" Beaudesert Exhaust system on my V8 79 Series. Also a DP chip. Between the two, it has made a big difference.

We travel very heavy and tow a 3,500 KG off road van. Being from WA, you might not know Cunningham's Gap - up the Dividing range to Warwick, Qld. Before the mods I used to go up in 2nd gear when loaded and towing. I now power up in third.
