Gday all, I'm looking for a Valvoline equivalent engine oil fro 2003 GU 4.2.. The Nissan specs say API CC CD CE CF or CF-4.. All i can find that is close and readily available is API CH-4/SJ. Is this ok to use?? thanks in anticipation. Michael

Dont you think I realise that.

I was offering an alternative oil that meets the spec as it seems from the post

that there is no Valvoline that does.

A bit surprising I thought.

http://www.driverstechnology.co.uk/oils.htm is a useful link regarding the different oil specs. It says that CH4 has superceded CD, CE, CF, etc and can be used with both high and low sulphur diesel.

As long as the oil is the correct weight it will be fine.

Thank you to all who replied. I will look at the Penrite grade and Amy, the site is good reading for all who know not a lot about oil, such as myself.. Ch4 is fine for my Patrol. regards, Michael

Hey Mike any old sump oil will do. Anything better would be like feeding strawberries to pigs. Complete wast of time.

Seriously you will be ok with Ch4. The newer engines don,t have the fuel dilution problem of the older engines as there is very little over fueling these days. Many of the detergents that use to be in Diesel Oil are no longer needed.

Cheers

Try this site [url=http://www.datateck.com.au/lube/valv_auMS/] It is the Valvoline lubricant recommendations page.

Have been using valvoline in my diesal GQ, it has now done 380,000ks and uses no oil at all, and motor has never been touched. I did once change to castrol oil but it started using oil so went back to valvoline and had no problems since.
