Hi all
I have seen quite a few complaints about the accuracy etc of Oztopo Ver 2.
Had a look on the GPS OZ website, to see if ver 3 was available yet, and found the following:
V3 is coming, but buy now and get a free upgrade to V3!
and this....
Please note: As of 4th Feb, Garmin has released a new version of MapSource (6.15.11) which
won't allow OZtopo to be displayed or used. We are pursuing a solution as quickly as possible.
Not giving me much faith in the product........
Cheers, Dave

Hi
You will get complaints about any map set so nothing unique in that. The issue with Mapsource has been caused by Garmin changing the way products are registered in Mapsource in there latest update. The simple workaround is not to use the latest version of Mapsource or use Basecamp - end of problem. Oztopo will work fine on your GPS despite this issue on the PC, which is the main thing.
Not my business but V3 has been delayed due to tragic circumstances..

Hi Greg
Certainly tragic, I didn't know of this, but I wasn't complaining about the delay in the release of version 3, just found it surprising that if you were to update the Mapsource software, Oztopo would no longer work (at all?) on your PC.
Still, sad about the circumstances.
Cheers, Dave

I have used Oztopo 2.1 quite extensively in the Victorian high country on a Garmin ETrex Legend CX and have found it to be very good.
Sure it's missing a few obscure (emphasis on obscure) tracks, but comparison has shown that these track are also missing from, for example, Rooftop maps.
Oztopo 2.1 (production) was noticeably more accurate that 2.1 beta and so I'm sure version 3 when it becomes available will be better again.
But honestly, I have no complaints with 2.1.
