I have just been glancing through the Autumn Edition of Western 4wDriver and camr across an item advising that all tourist facilities at Mt Augustus Station have been closed down. It seems that they had refused to comply with a Health Dept. clean-up order, Nearest fuel is at Cobra Station 37km to the west or at
Burringurrah Community approx.37km to the south. They may try and reinstate the
campground, but at the moment there is no camping around
the rock - nearest site is Cobra @$15pp per night

We went through their 18 months ago...decided not to top up Fuel Tanks (made it toTom Price comfortably) and
camp about 60kms up in the range. Bathrooms were filthy, fuel was pricey and
camp site had little shade.
Shame to loose facilities that close to
the rock though.
Hopefully DEC will organise some campng one day.....you could always invoke your miners right and still
camp in the area.
Brett....

Yes we passed through, had a look around and decided to travel on and
bush camp, very basic camping ground and very basic amenities as
well as no shade or even grass as it was very dry. So decided
bush camping was the go.

should have been grass . I dont mind basic but certainly doesnt get cleaned or maintained, dunnys nearly fall over as you balance on the throne, no hot water
Fuel at $1.85 was neither here nor there
local lady who served thefuel and checked me in was pleasant and was intrested in what I thought of the climb and shared her experiences as ayoung un when cyclones dumped rain on
the rock and they used the massive runoff crek as a slide

planning to go there in September this year. Family trip. Lived on the station back in the day. Can we still stay there or completely closed now?

Wiroo The station itself is still operating, the Health Dept only closed the ' resort ' i.e. the camping/caravan section due to non compliance with clean-up order.
