I blew out a tyre in central aus and took out the rear right flare and mud flap. Can anyone tell me where I could source a second hand one in grey. Or what are the after market alternatives if any. I know a new one which needs to be painted is far too much. Thanks.

Flairs are very expensive new.

Wreckers MAY have some, but they know how $$ they are and charge accordingly.

You can go with flexy flairs. Rubber flairs that are black and when installed CORRECTLY, they look brilliant.

Check out Steves article on installing them on a Playdoe

Same happened to me with my GU Patrol in north WA last year, except mine took out all the plastic covers over the fuel filler pipes, the indicator light from the bumper, the tail light assy from the corner panel and dented the rear door. Total cost $1500.00 and an insurance claim. PS and the mud flap.

Have made another entry under insurance. I thought it could be worth while conatacting the NRMA my insurer and so far I am not happy at all with what I am being told. Loss of 10% of my no claim bonus after never making a claim with them since 1983 and the people I have talked to seem very restricted in interpreting the policy.

Gday Ken,,,,I am insured with Western Q B E. Rang and told them what happened, they said OK go and get it fixed, I said what about quotes, they said dont worry about that get the panel beater to get in touch with us and we will sort it out.
I said what about my no claim its 60%, they said you wont lose any no claim.
I did what they said and it was fixed in a week no problems at all just had to pay the $200.00 excess.
This year I broke a windscreen, rang them and same deal, all fitted at no cost.
Could be worth getting a quote off them for your next renewal.

It came out at about $1500.00 worth of damage. I have claimed it on insurance but lost 10% of my no claim bonus. NRMA said I am on an old policy and if I had taken the cover out after April of this year it would have been better for me. Thanks.
