Hi,

Has anyone experience withoff road tyres for a F250.

We will be towing a caravan but want most likely AT's.

Tyres size 315 x 70 or 65 X 17. These are bigger than normals rims for a F250.

Especially people that are towing Bushtrackers. Motherhen perhaps.

Carl, this is a bit dated, but we had an F350 (1987) with slide-on for many years and ran 285/16 BFG A/Ts with great results.
My advise is to go for 16s NOT 17s and as tall a tyre as possible with maximum load carrying rating.
The higher the profile the better.

Cheers,

Stay away from Coopers- the lugs pull out then the tyre ,cap will come off ,total tyre failure. Cooper told me too much weight and too much power!
Mickey's are same , (dick cepek fc 11)have all four with flow crack around the bead.
have no problems with the goodyear wranglers silent armours i'm running now.
only other tyre i'd try would be bfg's
why do you need 17's?

The rims are 17 at the moment. The caravan also has 17's.

It looks like Goodyear are the best. The caravan has Goodyear Wranglers on it at the moment.

The Mickey Thompsons on it have chunks missing off them at the moment.

Thanks.

Gday Carl,

My Dad had no success with Cooper STC's, Dick Cepek, BF Goodrich AT's and Mickey Thompson AT's in 80K on his Effie. All though the tyres had the correct specifications to match the original Goodyears, all of these cracked very quickly all the way around the sidewalls.

He had to go back to the factory Goodyears to prevent this.

All tyres were 285/75 16 LT's.

He towes a Bushtracker

Thanks Brett,

That really helps. It has Mickey Thompsons at the moment.

We run Coopers on the current landcruiser and they are great for that. I have heard that Mickey Thompson and Cooper are madein the same factory.

We were abut to seriously look at BF Goodrich as well but will now not.
