Pretty much decided to take up ARB's deal on roof top tent, walls and awning.
I really want to have the tent fold over the rear of the vehicle but in doing this, the tent needs to be mounted high on the roof rack due to opening tail gate.
Im going to manafacture my own roof rack and have been thinking of mounting the tent higher on the rear of the rack(two tier rack) to clear the tail gate but am abit worried about the weight being up higher.
So, does anyone know the weight of the Simpson 3 RTT?
Has any one with a GXL cruiser got their RTT mounted over the rear of the vehicle?
Ive found an old thread regarding this but there wasnt really an answer to it.
Cheers Nick

Thanks Carl, can you open your tail gate to full height when tent is opened up?

Depends upon what model you have. Some later 100 series have a anti dust scoop and this has to be removed. On the 200 it has to be removed as well.

It is a bit of a bastard of a job and you need some small gromits to fit into the holes. Supercheap have them. You can use duct tape for a while but it will dry out and be hard to remover.

I have some car carpet on the rooftop where it makes contact with the tailgate to stop rubbing.

We have the rear dust guard but I fitted it when we purchased the vehicle.A couple of patches of double sided tape and lock screws and its off.Looking at our tail gate, the guard dosnt stick out much more than the wiper arm once tail gate is up but was thinking that the guard may have to come off. Also was thinking along the line of carpet on the underside of the tent.
Thanks again.
