Caravan Roof Air Vent

Hi All. We have a small push up type air vent in the roof of our van. Noticed today that the alloy from which it is made has started to corrode and peel the paint off.
No problem in repainting it but is there anything we should treat the corrosion with before painting.
Any hints or suggestions are most welcome.

Try some CRC zinc it or if you want to spend the extra try rustbullet it claims to be the best for this stuff. Cheers marn

Don't believe zinc is appropriate on alloy. Think etch primer is required.
