Got my head around the gauge set up at long last and how I want to fit the EGT & Boost gauges. Can't wait to get started as I've got a 10k trip starting in May/June.
Now I'm looking for the gauges and can find little in the way of retailers, can't even find a decent link to VDO wholesale. I know a couple of organisations that say that they can get them in but I'm looking for prices online, nothing like a bit of competition to keep the greedy men honest.
Any one know of the best place for best prices for VDU gauges ????

Dont know if this guy sells VDO but I got my EGT and Auto temp gauge off him for considerably less than prices here.
$148 against $350 here for EGT kit.
www.atlanticspeed.com
Good to deal with and here in 10 days Pay with Paypal
One bit of advice Get BLACK face gauges as I got white ones and they are too
bright at night and reflect in the windscreen.
Mine are Autometer which is a good brand also.
Also get metric models as the USA use imperial still
The model number has M after it

Thanks for that info I'll
check it tomorrow.
How and where have you got them set up ?
Are they the 52mm ?
It sounds like yours are lit hence the night time comment. Have you thought of isolating the light with a dimmer.

I have had my gauges connected to the same circuit as my dash lights - that way I can dim my gauges at the same time as I dim my dash
Hope this helps

KIA . . . which pod have you used ? Does it replace the existing pillar cover and go the full length or does it fit over the existing one. ??
Any problem getting the cabling in to it. ??
Where'd you get the gauges ?
It looks pretty neat sitting beneath the grab. I guess you painted it up yourself.
A heap of questions there.
Tx for your input. You too
John.

Yes they are 52mm and are in a pillar pod as below
These however are illegal in NSW
Have a look in my profile for pics of them.
My pod cost $20 not the $150 of the one below.
Most gauges come in Metric but you have to ask for them as the Yanks dont know what we use here.

Saltgrinder - you remove the existing pillar cover and replace it with this one - it is the same size and uses the same fitting holes.
re the cabling - I paid an auto electricain to do the install so cannot say how easy/hard it was
re painting - I sent it to the local car painter and he matched it - cost $35 to paint up
only too happy to help :-)
Graham H (QSLD) - can you add more to your comment ' these howeverare illegal in NSW " - to what are you referring?

I read on a Toyota
forum of a guy getting defected with a pillar pod like ours.
This was in NSW and as I live in Qld they are OK.
Might pay to
check.
Remember him quoting a rule that says if they are factory fitted they are legal,
if not they are not.
Sounds like usual beauracratic bulldust.
To the other question In a Cruiser there is enough room to get the wires out the end of the pod and down the side of the dash.
Just be careful as some gauges are too long and dont fit in the pod too
well
The Autometer ones do.
