Had one of these go recently (tube is fine) and as they are approx $70 to purchase new, wondering if anyone has purchased the small inverter in the unit to replace at a cheaper price?
Or is there any other alternative?
My location:
Gold Coast, Qld.

get a new one.
Who in their right mind would buy retail for $70. Thats a totally inflated price.
Fluro Light on Ebay .. just one example
usually there are more and mostly even cheaper.
I buy 99% of my stuff from HongKong without problems.
Crimp Terminals, Switches, Fuses, Anderson Plugs, Cameras, Led Lights and lots more .. you name it .. fraction of the cost .. Brick and Mortar Retail is on its way out since most companies handle warranty claims directly anyway and not through the retailer. Especially limited markets like caravan parts are totally inflated by the importer and/or retailer.. mostly both. I just saw a reversing camera system advertised at $800 (simple camera, small screen and cable) and had a chuckle.

Hi there. For my money, I'd try Jaycar if there's a store near you. You can buy a complete 12v strip fluoro for $40, but they
well also have components. Worth a try, I reckon.

I had cheap $30 twin fluros. Constantly replacing tubes & burnt out electrics.
Now have high efficiency European single tube version that cost $120 each.
Much better light, lower power consumption and not a single failure in 5 years.
No more rubbish ones for me.
Cheers,
Peter

haha, good marketing.
They come from the same factory as the cheap ones, just a matter where you buy. There are really crappy products around I agree but in most cases it is just a matter of trial and error and I can try a few times for $120 .. rofl..
I have purchased
well over 500 items on ebay and very very rarely had a quality issue. Just purchased a bunch of toslink cables, and I do not buy the cheap ones (only the high grade ones for above 1m) and they are better quality then you would get in any OZ
shop and at a fraction of the price.
Each to their own.

Go over to Whitworths (Boats) at
Southport, they have heaps of different types of Fluro's, Lights, etc. Get one of their catelogues while you are there for future reference.

Burn brite now has a 300 mm long twin strip LED robust little light that will see us all out. You pay a liitle more but long after the cost is forgotten the quality lives on. You need 12V supply and a different mount, worth the trouble

Agreed.
No bugs, no electrical interference, and 1/4 of the power use. $70 will buy a lot of LED light.
