IMO you should always use original rubber bushes.

Try Greg @ CitySuspension in Springwood.

Hi Harrow,

I have tried the poly ones in my 80 series and found them terrible. I much prefer the softer rubber ones.

I found the poly ones tend to make the ride and feed back into the steering wheel too harsh where the rubber ones soften it out.

I would agree with using genuine ones also. BTW i find the rubber ones last longer than the poly. The poly bushes crack, but my 80 has 35's and 6" lift so that may have something to do with it ;)

I take my arms or panhards out myself and take them to a mechanic I know with a press and he presses them for me. Pretty easy to take the arms or rods out.

Yes stick with the original rubber ones, the poly ones will eventually wear the holes in the arms out, pretty quickly if they are exposed to lots of mud and grit. They also transmit more road "feel" as others have said.

The worst problem with the poly type is they limit sideways flex which results in breaking the rear section of the diff housing mounting ears. The original welding can be sus in that area so check thoroughly.
Yes, I am speaking from experience - failure in the North Simpson brought out the bush welding skills as diff oil was leaking too. Use genuine for sure.

Not quite so, the bushes, whether rubber or polyurethane are moulded into an outer metal retainer which is pressed (interference fit) into the arm holes. They are not a loose free fit like shackle rubber bushes, so mud and grit are not a issue with the bush and the arm.

My experience with 105 series front control arm bushes is that the rubber ones last longer than the urethane ones in a more extreme/articulation environment.

After 167,000km, I am onto my 3rd set, 1st set original rubber, 2nd set OME urethane..which cracked annd allowed the innner steel bush to become free, and the 3rd set are rubber and doing ok...from ...and I hate to say it...Pedders.

My 2nd and 3rd set are also of the + castor offset design, which by having the inner bush offset in relation to the outer does not enhance their life.

Willl everyone also remember that the live axle Landcruiser is a 105 series, not a 100 series.

I'd be asking the same question. Most common cause would be freeplay in the wheelbearings.
