I have finally done it. Handed in my notice yesterday, I am going to retire.
Can now get two new Detectors and start planning this season with a side trip
to Wiluna. So those going to the gathering see you there.

Sounds like a plan, Brian - and a good one.
Check out the Gold Detecting website (if you haven't already), very friendly folk with a wealth of knowledge to share, lots of WA content too.

Brian (WA),

Congratulations. It is a hard decision to make. I still haven't made mine and I admire people who have the courage to do so. I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy your retirement.

Regards,
Bob

Nah, Brian, you won't like it!
I've been retired for some years now, and it's hell; you don't get public holidays, no leave loading, no days in lieu, no long service leave. Even weekends don't seem to give you a break!
Turn back while you still can....
;-)

Congrats Brian (WA), I concur with what joc45 says, hubby and I have been retired for over 5years now, as well as all the above you do what you want when you want with no boss (except, in my case, Hubby) to tell you what to do and when to do it.

Enjoy as we have done although be prepared to be run off your feet, one wonders whether it would be a good idea to go back to work just for a rest LOL

Cheers

Well done Brian, I' ll bet you won't regret it. In fact 12 months from now & you will be wondering how you used to find time to go to work!

I bit the bullet & did likewise a bit over 18 Months ago. Yep, a bit of a bummer as said above about no sick or holiday pay, annual leave & public holidays etc. LOL

But one of the upsides is you can do nothing all day if you choose to & if you don't get finished doing nothing, then you have all day the next day to finish doing nothing! I love it.

Good luck & may you have many happy & healthy retirement years.

Congrats and after having been retired for 10 months now I agree with the others, don't know how I had time to go to work. Bit of a bugger about the leave situation but the upside is that if you want to go somewhere, do something etc you can just do it, spur of the moment adventures are great.
