Hi Old Girl, I'm not keen on the weather anywhere in Queensland for the next week. But I can't see on Weatherzone what causes your particular concern.
But then, I get lost on that site!

I'm scheduled to land on Fraser Island on Monday 22nd March for a few days.
Does your crystal ball show anything about that?

Cheers
Allan

Allan I Wished i had one for TC Ului (YOU-LOO-EEE) its not in our waters yet so anything could happen. Its currently near Fiji moving north west. Have a read of the weatherzones forum. This morning the storm chasers were getting a bit excited. Fiji have two TC on their door steps.

Gidday Alan, I dont know what it will be like then but at the moment it is blowing and raining. I just got back at 5.30 this evening after a week there. Rained (monsoonal downpours) Sat to Mon while I was at Central and driving all around the southern half, Tues a light shower while packing up to go up to Waddy Point, good weather until the south easterlies kicked in Thurs night and Friday was gusty rain squalls. Friday night the freight trains were going overhead all night. Saw a big yatch high and dry (well except for the rain) on Hook Point on the way back this afternoon. Only caught a few Dart and one Whiting, I think thats about all anyone was getting.
Have fun
Cheers

I use Weatherzone for current information but also use Precipitation Outlook for Australia & New Zealand
It has been very accurate especially for the first week and a bit of a heads up for the fortnight out.
I have watched this since being made aware of it about 9 years ago.
Cheers

DW ive been looking at many charts and the location in yours is what ive been interested about. Wednesday will be decision day for me to pack up my little abode by the sea or not. I think any one planing on a dome tent anywhere in Central Q next week end should really consider other options. Our creeks are soaked and it wouldn't take much to make this area very dangerous. The Fitzroy in Rocky is still waiting for the moisture from as far as Taroom. Could be very interesting.

Here's a link to the 4 day map, looks as though it's intensifying when it gets into the Coral Sea and may hit Central Qld next weekend.

4 day map

Don't think I'd like to be camping on Fraser if it hits down that way.

Old girl

Please tell where to find this website - I want to add to my favourites - is it a subheading in BOM?

Thanks for all that information folks.
It's not looking at all good. Think I'll delay that trip to Fraser.
In fact think I'll get out of SE Queensland!

Just saw one computer model which has it making landfall as a Cat 3 near Mackay on Saturday/Sunday.

Trouble is the high over Central Oz is pretty weak and a Cat 3/4 will barrel straight over it.

Central Qld could be in for another swamping

Too long a timeframe for any model to predict that information with any confidence.

Another good site to follow these Cyclone events is the Joint Typhoon Warning Centre (JTWC) operated by the US Navy.

http://www.usno.navy.mil/JTWC

The graphical representation of their projection for TC ULUI can be found here: http://www.usno.navy.mil/NOOC/nmfc-ph/RSS/jtwc/warnings/sh2010.gif

Their predictions are better than BOM's in many cases IMHO, strangely enough. However many who follow these events do not rely on one source of data.
