Hi All
Preparations are well under way for this years desert trip, with things falling into place very well. I have been granted permission to head out to Dingo Claypan and on to Lens 300 Mile Centre Line of Fire marker. I have read Blogs that the Marker is still there, which is great, as the same can not be said for the Len marker at the top of Dingo Claypan. Another marker that I would like to get to is the 250 Mile marker. I know the marker was still in place in 1991, but has anyone been out to this marker in recent years and is it still there.

Google earth has the track out overgrown in many places, but should not be that hard to follow with modern day moving maps.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Stephen

Make sure you take plenty of photos for us all Stephen..

Plenty of remote waterholes out that way too, worth a bit of a look I'm sure!!!

Cheers
Alan

Hi Alan
This is only the start of the trip, with the real remote area about 5 days after passing this area. If I told you it is going to take well over 2 weeks to get from Coober Pedy to Laverton, when most people do it in 6 - 8 days, that will give you an idea that I have a reasonable little detour in store.

Yes there is going to be lots of photos and many other things that hopefully turn out OK. The only down side will be the punctures, but that is to be expected in cross country work.

Cheers

Apparently, if you let someone else go first, it will eliminate 75% of your punctures believe or not :)

If you're on your own, well watch out for those old burnt out stems, they're shockers.

Sounds like good trip - keep safe..

Cheers
Alan

Hi Alan
We will not have the luxury of making another vehicle go first. I will be taking another 3 tyres for that very reason.

Cheers

Hi Stephen,

I have been fascinated by Beadell's Centre Line of Fire markers ever since I first read about them.

Good luck on your quest - I'll be delighted to hear how you get on with your quest.

have a good trip

Hi Phil
Thanks for that. When I requested permission to visit Dingo, The DSO had no problems, but the final decision came down to Aboriginal Permits, which came back last week approved. Seeing we are driving straight past, what is a small detour when we are so close. I will let you know how it all goes, you have my word on that. I still have not had any details from Pete, but I know the general area that I have to head for.

Regards

Stephen

Len would have left fairly accurate at & Long for the markers .... theoretically shouldn't be too hard to find.

Just draw a line between the source marker @ Woomera and Broome ... well that was Len's theory !!!!

Hi Scott.
I have the details of where it should be, but do not want to get there, only to find some brainless person has taken the marker, just as they have done with every Len Marker, including copies that get replaced on a regular basis.

I will have to get there and see for myself.

Cheers
