On our weekend trip my mate arrived in his old Landy shod with Silverstone 280x16 tyres. The tyres have a very deep lug tread pattern in a V shape and have awesome traction. The tyres are made in Malaysia. He had swapped something for the tyres some time ago and can't remember if they are available in Aus.

Does anyone have any knowledge of these tyres? They are quite a few sizes larger than 750x16's

Cheers

Willie

if so the 117 is a VERY GOOD tire, although soft sidewalls, adn not speed rated, so not legal. They wear quick on the road, but hey they are horn offroad.

Thanks Truckster, thats them OK. Pretty awesome. Don't know if anyone would bother with legalities out here in the sticks though. They won't fit under my truck :-(

Hey Bonz....on the way home on Sunday I picked a long downhill run and with the GPS showing the correct speed I clocked 142kmh in the old G60. Then I remembered that I had not pumped the tyres up from 35psi after the bush trip....but it was only for a short while....you could see the fuel guage move!!!!! Maybe if I pumped the tyres to 60psi there would be a few more k's in it................

Hey Willie,

It was good to meet you at Blinman. Those were pretty awseome tyres ya mate had on. After Blinman we went on to Arkaroola via Mt Serle and out at Grindles hut. The drive was beautiful. Took us all day to get to Arkaroola. After QArkaroola we went down via Balcanoona, Wirriealpa, Martins Well, Erudina, Mt Victor, Yunta and then back home. Got lost a few times on the station tracks but thank god for GPS and laptops.

Caqtch ya again one day.We have so little time to enjoy our land

Hi David,
Good to meet you David out there in the beyond. I was hard to miss in that crowd with my orange truck:-) Yes that is a nice run through to Grindells hut. Camped there once. Must have been messy through Erudina as according to the Wednesday road report those tracks were closed. I find the old RAA maps quite good out in the bush but a lot of the time it is guesswork.
Catch ya next time you pass by.
Cheers
