Hi all, l have a 2002 3.4ltr petrol v6 Prado. There is a vibration that comes in at 2850rpm to 2950rpm. This vibration happens when the vehicle is either stationery or driving. The engine and trans run smooth at all times. I disconnected all the belts and run the engine and the vibration is still there. Has anyone else had this problem or can point me in the right direction at what to look for. Many thanks

Don't worry, it's a characteristic of that vehicle! If you search on Pradopoint, you'll find an old thread about it. There are various theories, people have changed exhausts etc but as far as I'm aware, there isn't one single thing to fix it.
Mine had 140,000km when I bought it, now over 230,000km. Still vibrates, hasn't got worse, in fact I barely notice it there now but was obviously aware of it when I first drove it. It certainly doesn't vibrate the whole vehicle!
Cheers,
Mark.

I've heard complaints about the earlier v6 commodores having a vibration, apparently it couldn't be corrected.
And even the early v6 ford capris i think did the same, that was a major reason why they never made v6s back then.
Anyway, i could be wrong.
Cheers Wayne

My 2001 3.4ltr Prado has a vibration that comes in around 1800-2000rpm and again 2800-2900 , the later vibration is very. As stated previously its a
well known characteristic of this motor and there appears to be no easy fix. I even changed the engine mounts , it made no difference so I now have a spare set of mounts.
Like everyone else you will have to try and ignore it, BUT, if you find a solution please lets us know.
Regards
Alanc
