My camper has black rubber seals where it folds shut. As it is folding shut you need to tuck in any loose canvas and your arms get covered in black marks from the black rubber seals.

Is there any way to stop the black coming off the rubber seals. Is there some sort of sealant to put on.

David,

This could be a big problem or maybe not. Is the camper new or second hand? Have you had it for long and has it always done this?

Generally the black comes off the rubber when it is perishing, if that is the case with your seals then I think you may have to replace them.

Alternatively it could just be that they are dirty from use or manufacturing. I would give them a good wash with warm soapy water and then dry them with a cloth and a good bit of elbow grease. If that doesn't fix it then your back to the paragraph above.

Hope this helps

Agree with Duncs. Had a similar thing happen with those interlocking rubber floor mats. 4years old and leaving residue on anything they touch. Only solution is new ones..

I have had this camper from new and they have always been like this.

I tried some armour all, and some car polish etc but I keep getting black off it.

The rubbers are still supple and seal well.

Just thought there might be some rubber conditioner others use.
