Sounds like a setup problem. Do you have to install any software onto the computer first?

Have you checked the setup instructions?

Have you contacted HEMA?

Had a similar issue with OZIEXPLORER amd Garmin. Went to the webiste and it told me how to fix it. I am sure HEMA have the same service.

Hello

I have a HN5 and a PC running XP. Works fine. I did however fined that it wont work on a cable that is plugged into a usb splitter. Only works when plugged into a single usb port - not sure of the signficance of this observation. Have you installed ActiveSync ?

Cheers
Greg

I am not using a usb splitter and have tried to reinstall ActiveSync but believe this to be the problem. Will remove and reinstall software again and contact Hema.
Have received some helpful advice from Exploroz Shop
Thanks for your replies

This happens to me all the time when I forget to plug it in first. I don't understand why but it works.

Hi Plugga,

Something to check.
Is your computer as desktop or laptop?
If it a desktop then does it have USB ports on the front as well as the rear?
If it does and you are using the front ports then that could be your problem.
It is common occurrence that some hardware devices are not recognised or operate correctly using these front ports.
Especially HP brand computers.
Try connecting to a USB port on the rear.

There is something wrong with your computer Plugga.

A PC running Windows XP or better should automatically recognise the "new device" and configure the operating system to recognise the new hardware.
There is no need whatsoever to manually install USB drivers.

When you mention WINXP, VISTA or WINDOWS 7, does this mean you have tried three different PC's running these Operating Systems???
If yes, it may be a faulty cable.

As others have mentioned some computers have usb issues. Dell, I think, were not all that compliant a while back.

I have one of the Hema 5" but have not seen a need to connect it direct to my computer. It is not necessary for how I use it. I did connect an earlier 4.3" and it recognised it automatically, as it should. I use Windows XP on an Asus computer.

Perhaps some information on how you connected it and what computer and operating system you were using may lead to some helpful suggestions. I cannot understand how you could try XP , Vista and Windows 7 drivers unless using 3 different computers and the odds of three different computers failing to recognise the Hema are almost zero.

Hi all
Have now got the Hema Navigator to connect as it should to a lap top running Vista. It wont connect to our 3 month old desk top running windows 7 and as it turned out our older computer that is running the XP has a problem connecting anything to the USB points which I didn't know early. On the new computer with windows 7 it will not recognise the hema at all.
Thanks for all of your replies

I was at the Caravan & Camping show in Perth today & saw a demonstration of the new Hema Navigator. The guy said the do not connect with a computer because they have no 'NEMA' out, what ever that means. He said you just cut & paste with the SD card.
