Gee you're a bit vague, WA is a big state. Please provide more info so you cab get a more accurate answer.

Hi saw doctor

As said - where in WA?

Also a few days in WA? Where from?? It takes a few days to get to WA from practically anywhere.

The north is generally drying up by May, whereas the south west is expecting the rains to start in May - last year a month later and into June before first rains. Seasons are far more erratic and not as reliable as they used to be. Autumn rains are usually tied to the full moon - so season can start on the Easter moon (early April this year and unlikely), but more likely to get serious rain on the following full moon or on current seasonal trends, even a month after that.

Hi Sawdoctor, If you go to the BOM website you can obtain past history of conditions in any part of the state. Given that they are the government body to maintain stats, it would be a good place to look.

One the rains come, there won't be much difference in that distance north or south of Perth. Might have to wait and see when the time comes, watch the four day forecasts and choose accordingly.

my guess is mild - mid to high 20s and dry

my hope is for an early break for the farmers - were up to 4 months without rain which is fine for summer- but lets see a decent winter

Why don't you jump on the BOM (Bureau of Meteorology ) web site ad have a look for your self.

It will tell you everything you need to know including past weather.

But the way things are going it could be a heat wave with above 40 Deg.C temps or raining with over 200 mm of rain in 24 hours.

Hi Sawdoctor.

April nights are usuall freezing !!! So I would avoid going south. Days are generally nice, mid 20's.
I would go north to Cervantes or Lancelin. Ledge point and Seabird are nice little towns too.

Im guessing the above posts have made you cancel any plans you had of going away in April.

But on a more positive note:
I believe April offers some of the best weather for travelling, camping and fishing for any location from Esperance to Exmouth, because the sea breezes have finished and the winter cold fronts have yet to come.
You may be unlucky in May and catch the first cold front for the winter (which will last for 3 days) - but that will extend from Augusta to Geraldton - so dont plan any 3 day hikes, or camp under the stars.

Augusta, Hamelin and Dunsborough are great in April, there not freezing, freezing is where they just had the winter Olympics.

And just the same, Lancelin, Cervantes and Geraldton have good weather in April, but take a jumper.

I'm sure the weather at that time of the year wont be all that bad - Leave that for July and August.

Have fun, its easy

Disclaimer: I actually live and love wind sports, April for me sux. So i fish!
