Hi Every one out there in internet land,
We have itchy feet and are in the process of selling our business which we have been working hard at since 1993. Fingers crossed we get a sale soon and a good price. The more we get for it the better caravan and the longer our long over due trip will be.
We want to get something to tow behind our now renamed Hiluxaddore. AKA Dual cab Hilux with a V6 Commordore engine. (We now have grunt)
Anyway at the moment we have a great camper trailer but now with our 2yo we need something that required less set up and more storage and a bed for the child who is now touching the ends of his porta cot..
So it has to go, we have been looking at something compact and I do like something around the 14 ft with the pop out beds on the ends. Maybe Windsor Rapid or Jayco Expanda.
But I love outside cooking and so far with our budget at the moment, before sale of business is around $15 000 kitchens are all inside...why I ask. Double that if we get a SALE.
Why don't they make caravans with slide out kitchens and lockable pantries accessible from the outside to me it sounds like such a good idea.
The best caravan I have found that I like but I think I am dreaming is the Gunyah (
http://www.ozzieoffroad.com.au/ ) or Jurgens Stargazer
(
http://www.jurgensaustralia.com.au/offroads/stargazer.html )
but......... budget OUCH. Would be a good investment and if looked after great resale.
Any ideas of something similar that could be cheaper. ???
Has anyone put a slide out kitchen into a poptop caravan?
Has anyone had troubles trying to find remote style
camp sites that can accommodate a 16ft sized caravan?
Cheers looking forward to some advice.
Jodie

Hi Jodie,
I know exactly what you mean about "...caravans with slide out kitchens and lockable pantries accessible from the outside..." so when I finally found one I looked with interest and have just bitten the bullet and ordered one.
Only problem is that the
Quantum has a $$$ pricetag to match its features :(
Cheers

Yeah very similar.
Don't want the dunny or shower taking up storage room in the van.
I like the bunk option over the bed.
Lotto or a great sale price for the business.
Fingers crossed

With the Jurgens you are still dealing with canvas......plus I hope you don't suffer from claustrophobia!!!!

I only want to sleep in it and store a few things I hope to be doing all our living on the outside. I dont plan to be cooped up in any size caravan watching TV.
If its raining for extended periods I am sure we will cope with small spaces even with the toddler. We do have the back up dvd player aka Vegie Box. But would rather put on the gum boots and a raincoat and go for a wander in the bush.

Hi Goobgal.
I wasn't referring to the overall size of the van. I have a Quantum that is quite small. What I meant was that the bed area is very "tight". We too love to live on the outside. We looked at the Jurgens but found the bed area to be very closed in. Still all camping is a compromise!
Cheers

Hi Jodie,
The Stargazer was previously available in Aust as the Jurgens Xpedition. One of these might come up second hand.
There's also another South African one called Conqueror Commander. I think it might be smaller than the Jurgens though. Here's a link to one of their Aust dealers:

Nice thanks.
I can see people hanging on to these and not many 2nd hand.
Plus because they are a newish model they would be still close to original sale price and not much cheaper.

couldnt agree more - who wants to
cook anything more than a kettle to make a brew inside a caravan? I put a folding table over the tow bar - one of those cheap chinese double cookers (you can boil crabs on one) over it and
cook everything,
well mostly out there.

Check out www.pacificcampers.com.au. Danny Hoskins makes an aluminium unit called "The Vision". I don't know where you are located he is at Loganvillage just south of
Brisbane.
Can vouch for his workmanship I have one of his earlier campers.
Worth a look

That's fantastic a local business to us and quite a good price.
We don't need the
grey nomad trimmings yet. I might arrange to go sus them out very soon.
Thanks
