Can anyone give me an idea for the cost of ULP and Diesel fuel along the Plenty Highway.

Cheers

Hi,
we did Boulia to Alice last July and got fuel at Jervois. It cost a bomb, something like $2.10 per ltr. But heck, we had no choice. Be advised that Tobermorey Station is now closed, NO fuel. That stuffed us up as we had planned to get some there. It was a tight trip for us to get on to Jervois. Had to do the whole lot in 2 wd which made it quite a trip. Would have prefered 4wd but we couldn't risk the fuel capacity. (hence my previous re carrying spare)

There is also limited fuel at Gemtree Caravan Park. A large tank makes a difference. I went across on one tank towing a Kimberley Karavan. All in 2wd. The road was reasonable but there has been rain and floods across there since.
The price of around $2.10 sounds about right for last year at Jervois Station.

I am not certain if Jervois has unleaded or just dieso. Someone might know that one.

Crossed the Plenty in July last year. Diesel $1.75 a litre. It was $1.95 at Gemtree, go figure.

August last year Jervois Diesel @ $1.75 - Premium unleaded @ $1.93

Gemtree was a little higher , didn't have a good look.

Hi,

Went across the Plenty last Sept. From memory the fuel at Jervois was over $2.00 a litre for both diesel and ulp. I didn't take a lot of notice because we didn't fill up as we were carrying enough fuel to make it from Boulia to Alice.

Cheers,

Geoff

Don't forget to take cash with you as some places like Jervois don't accept credit cards.

When travelling we take about $2000 in cash just in case.

At Christmas unleaded was $1.85 to $2.00 and diesel was between 20c cheaper to the same price as ulp.
Cheers
I'll get there someday, or die wanting to.

Just get fuel, or don't go there..that's the reality od travel in the Outback

Sounds a bit harsh, but that is the reality of it..

On the Canning last year we Paid $3.20 a lt, at Kunawarratji (well 33), and cash only.

Yes I know supply and demand so to speak
I was just getting some idea of cost so I can budget for the trip. I will carry enough fuel to make major places instead of having to fill up in remote areas, even so I was expecting around the $2 ltr.
