Hi Merv,
It has been a while since I was past the lake but when I was there it was dry as a bone and filled with fairy grass.
Apart from some recent rains we have had nowhere near enough wet to make an impression and you may be best to get in touch with the Stawell Tourist Centre (1800 330 080) for an update.
In any event I think you will be out of luck for yabbies.

I know people that were there last week...and got plenty of yabbies...but they had to work hard for them...like 9pm...dawn work , the water is that clear they said that they could see the yabbies moving with the spot light....and there were heaps of small red fin ...the lake is apparently dropping rather quickly , from their report.....cheers....and another thing ..the rangers are there and I believe that 2 persons were caught with excessive drop nets , 150 of them between them..hope they get "the book " thrown at them if it is true and I have no reason to believe that it is not...the people I mentioned saw it

Thanks for the update Bruce.
It had been a while since I was there so things are looking up.
