Hello all...

Well my Mp3 player has died (Creative brand) and I would like to get an Apple Ipod this time mostly because of access to Itunes.

Having never had an "Ipod" before I am just wondering what other people think of them and also which one ? There are so many versions of them.

I only want it for music so I'm guessing something around 40G would be sufficiant?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks, Lyndsey.

Mate,
Go to the Creative web site as there is a software package that will do the download for you. Otherwise you can use windows explorer and drop them in the right folder on the player.

Cheers

Hey Kevin.

As Blueone in the post above ha said you can go to the Creative web site and dowload the apropriate program for free.
You can also use Windows media player to add files through the "sync" button.

Hope this helps ya mate.

Hi Lyndsey,

Same thing happened to me last week ! My Creative Zen died.
I bought an Ipod Nano 8G (5th generation) from JB HiFi. Was so good I bought another one the next day for my wife. Has plenty of storage for songs (up to 2000), up to 7000 photo's, radio, video, audio memo, up to 24 hours playback time etc.
Check out the specs http://support.apple.com/kb/SP569
Cost around the $188 mark.
No affiliation with either the product or the supplier.

Any of the Nano's will do.

If you think access to iTunes is a good reason to buy an iPod.... ah well...;-(

I use Sharepod..

What is Sharepod? I am also looking at getting one of these mass storage things. Not that keen on giving Steve Jobs a free kick if there are other viable alternatives.

Hi MrBitchi.

I'm using Itunes to buy music not for controlling my music.
Sorry, I should have said that in the first place.

I use itunes to manage my music but not to 'purchase' music. Have never tried any of the others; how do they manage music better than itunes?

Hey Off track...

I have always used windows media player and found it very simple. I never used the creative software as i found windows media player easier. I am new to Itunes so will see how i go.

40G would be more than enough. If it is just music you want on there, even 8G will be enough.

We have 30Gb iPod Classic and have nearly filled it up (mainly with music)!

iPod Nano is more compact, but should have much larger capacity, given how cheap solid state memory now is. Apple's market dominance allows them to gouge shamelessly.

Hi Lyndsey,

We have 3 Ipods!

Two are Nano's (4 gb)which my partner and I use for music when travelling (flights/waiting in airports). They still hold a couple of hundred songs and the beauty is that we both have similar but different tastes in music and they're so easy to download music to.

The third is a 120gb which holds my 15,000 songs (our whole CD collection). We use that one in our car for music only on long trips (not for photos). I did have an old MP3 player but I only seem to use that for the radio in it at the Clipsal or footy. I still don't buy music off of Itunes, as I'm old fashioned and still buy the occasional CD. The CD when purchased straight away gets uploaded on to Itunes and then downloaded to the Ipod, and then filed away.

Not sure where you plan to use it, but we put a stereo system in our old MG over Xmas and that stereo came with a spot for a memory stick. So rather than using a CD in that car or attaching the Ipod, I now just download music on to the memory stick, plug it in and away we go. Very simple and user friendly.

Linda.

Hi, I have had a 40g for over 5 years now and it's just wonderful. Its one of those things that 'just works'. If you are only using it for music, certainly you probably don't need the 40g, but more is always better. I store my son's music under a playlist for his ipod so the one itunes library is great. If you have the room, its great to be able to share your photos and even videos with others too. Couldn't recommend it more. Only problem has ever been that my slow internet connections drive me crazy with getting all the new updates that come through for itunes. Have fun,
Jan
