We are about to cross the border from Northern Territory into WA and wondering if anyone knows if we can take fresh garlic cloves in. Cheers

I would say not, as anything that can carry traces of soil is prohibited. If you prepare them as for cooking, removing outer coating completely and present them for inspection they may be allowed in. If they are just to be used for cooking, you can prepare them as above, steam and freeze them - if you have a freezer.

Have a look at thread 76584, it has a few links in it that should give you a definitive answer.

Broome time,
If you are after definitive answers google
'agric.wa.gov.au/quarantine'
fresh fruit and veg, honey, plant material, cardboard fruit and veg boxes, soil animal hides and skins are some that are definitely prohibited.
Cooked or peeled fruit and veg may be OK.
The other thing you should check for is hitch-hiking cane toads,
Hope this helps.
Disco.
