TD42 still be used in the TB42 Bellhousing????? Also should i get an
auto sparky to fix the current wiring or should i get a whole TD42

PS. this has been talked about on the Patrol list and here before, the Christie Bros, are gurus at this conversion, specially Pete.

Contact him on the Patrol4wd list on Yahoogroups.

Chris.
To do the job properly you will need to get a loom and a instrument cluster plus the ignition switch and the three relays and glow plug controller, its best if you can get the whole lot still plugged together as even a good auto elec will have trouble if he has not got a factory cct. Note the alternator and regulator are also different, thereticly you should have a larger vaccum storage tank. I recomend trading the petrol in on a diesel it will end up cheaper and better. Eric.

If you do get a TD42, make sure you get it complete with starter, alternator and flywheel, as both flywheels are different.
Gearbox input shaft spline is the same, but cant remember about the clutch mounting to the flywheel. Should be the same, but dont quote me.
If your going to do it, definitely get a wiring loom, its not hard to fit, as all plugs on the electricals are the same - eg. wipers, heaters, lights etc.
You will need an instrument cluster, I have a spare if you cant find one.
The dash has to be removed to fit the new harness, dont worry this is only a 1 hour job.
The starter bolt has to be drilled and tapped into the gearbox, as you know.
Give me a call for any other assistance
